All the details for the Espot - Port Ainé winter break school trip

Espot and Port Ainé, technically, and although their ski passes are currently valid for both resorts, we can consider them as two different resorts for school trips as they are 15 km from each other and it is not possible to ski in both resorts on the same day, although it is possible to combine them on different days.

Espot is the older of the two resorts, having opened in 1967 under the name of Superespot. It has a chairlift that takes you up to the middle area of the resort, La Roca, where the restaurant and the school are located, and from this area the Bosc chairlift takes you to the upper part of the resort from where you can access various slopes. The resort has 25 kilometres of pistes surrounded by beautiful black pine trees and 1.000 metres of vertical drop. It has 22 slopes of which 2 are green, 10 are blue, 6 are red and 4 are black. The resort also has snowshoeing circuits and the various snow cannons cover 15 of the 25 km of the resort. Despite having only 25 kilometres of skiable slopes, the slopes are quite long and the beautiful setting and family atmosphere give this resort a special warmth that makes you never want to leave.

It was founded in 1987 and its founder and driving force was Josep Mesegué, a neighbour who, together with other neighbours in the area, won the second prize in the children's lottery. Together they bought 110 tickets with a total prize of 880 million pesetas and decided to promote this fantastic ski resort. Its orography is peculiar with a ‘half bowl’ shape where its highest point is the Pic de l'Orri at 2.440 metres and from there all the slopes are situated at the foot of this peak. The resort has 27km of slopes divided into 6 green, 4 blue, 11 red and 4 black slopes.  It has snow cannons covering 50% of the resort and 800 metres of vertical drop. It has 2 refreshment points located at 1.650m and 2.100m.

FAQs

What is the minimum number of persons to be considered as a school group?

To be considered as a group there must be at least 25 paying students unless specifically stated otherwise in the quotation.

Are teachers and drivers also obliged to pay the tourist tax?

Yes, in fact, tourist taxes are normally payable from the age of 16, unless otherwise specified in the budget, so they do affect teachers, drivers and students over the age specified in the budget.

How many people are the ski groups?

The maximum number of students per ski instructor is 12, although exceptions can sometimes be made and more students can be added if the school and the instructors agree.

When is the rented ski equipment collected?

Our recommendation, as well as the preference of the shops and the school groups themselves, is to be able to collect the material the day before classes start in order to optimise time the following morning. In fact, most of the shops, as far as possible, tend to extend their closing hours to provide the service on the day the group arrives.

How many hours of skiing are with instructors?

The minimum required by the ski schools is 2 hours of lessons per day and can be up to 5 hours of lessons per day. Once the lessons have been completed, students can enjoy free skiing for the rest of the day.

Can I contract transport with Viajes Estiber?

Of course. Viajes Estiber has an extensive network of transport partners to provide this service.

What does the insurance included in the trip cover?

This is a travel insurance that extends to the ski slopes, so that students and teachers are covered for the entire trip against illness or injury whether skiing or not, up to the limits set by the specific policy. The specific conditions and limits are provided on request when requesting a quote. The days of insurance cover will be the same as the duration of the trip.
